The Pearson Foundation helps nonprofit organizations around the world deliver books and literacy support to individuals and communities in need.

We’re sharing books we love, and helping teachers, parents, and great non-profit organizations develop skills and resources that ensure the young people they serve are ready to read and learn.

Much of this effort is focused through We Give Books, a own digital initiative developed together with Penguin Books that enables anyone with access to the Internet to put books in the hands of children who don't have them, simply by reading online. Visitors to this stand-alone website can explore a growing digital library of great children’s books for free, no matter where they are. They can also learn more about great non-profit organizations helping to share books and grow libraries around the world. The more they read, the more hardcover and paperback books we donate.

In 2011, it’s first full year of operation, We Give Books was awarded the prestigious Beacon Award for Excellence in Education Marketing by the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP).  We also introduced three new exciting components to this literacy program—We Give Books’ Read for My School, which makes it possible for students to read together to secure books for their classrooms and libraries and the We Give Books ReadMobile and Family Book Nights programs, which deliver books and reading celebrations to schools and community organizations nationwide.

In addition to We Give Books, we support independent research on early learning and literacy and share these results with non-profit organizations at work in the United States and around the world.

The Pearson Foundation is also a proud sponsor and founding partner of Jumpstart’s annual Read for the Record Campaign, which since its inception in 2006 helped to raise millions of dollars for Jumpstart’s essential work in classrooms year around.
