ReadMobile

The We Give Books ReadMobile is a fully outfitted mobile bus that spreads the word about the importance of reading with young people.

Designed to make reading an event to remember, the ReadMobile visits schools, libraries and community centers encouraging the regular reading habits that help young people to develop a lifetime love of learning. The resulting celebrations make reading fun and reinforce the important role that reading plays in a lifetime of learning.

The We Give Books ReadMobile serves primary and elementary public schools, as well as local community organizations eager to engage children from pre-kindergarten through third grade. Every child who takes part in the ReadMobile celebration receives a free, brand-new hard-cover or paperback book to take home.

The recently completed Spring 2012 tour spanned across 12 eastern states—beginning in Fort Worth Texas and concluding in Mobile, Alabama, with stops in between from Maryland to Minnesota. At every event, young people took part in reading events, received free books, and received their own copy of the official book of the 2012 Read for the Record Campaign, Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad.

Earlier Readmobile tours included state-wide visits in support of online reading campaigns for both Jumpstart’s Read for the Record (Fall 2010) and Read for My School Florida (Spring 2011). These events also helped introduce participants to the hundreds of great books always available to them from any web device at We Give Books (www.wegivebooks.org), the free website that provides easy access to an ever-growing library of books for all ages and interests.
