The Pearson Foundation helps young people continue learning and developing well beyond the classroom.
We’re
maintaining two student recognition programs that recognize
extraordinary young people making a difference in communities around the
world, and working together with leading nonprofit organizations who are
doing the same, often by providing locally-managed educational support
for young people in innovative ways outside of the school
classroom.
Much of our work centers on two new student
recognition programs we’ve developed and introduced ourselves in recent
years. Now entering its third year, the Pearson Prize for Higher Education supports students from U.S
colleges and universities who are giving back to their local
communities. The Pearson Fellowship for Social Innovation similarly supports
exemplary young leaders around the globe who are using their ingenuity,
passion, and energy to build better lives for themselves and
others.
Whenever we can, we also support other exemplary
non-profits who provide similar service and support to young people
across the globe. In recent years, our efforts have focused on
partnerships with organizations including Jane Goodall’s Roots &
Shoots program; PeaceJam; and TakingITGlobal, and on supportive
relationships with a host of local community organizations as they’ve
applied mobile and digital learning approaches to their own
practice.
